Ayodele Olawande says the Ministry of Youth Development’s success will be measured by how effectively it reduces unemployment.

The minister said this in a statement on Tuesday during the signing of a memorandum of understanding with the Ministry of Labour and Employment.

Mr Olawande said the two ministries were collaborating to tackle the pressing issue of unemployment in the country.

“Through the Labour Employment and Entrepreneurship Programme and the Nigeria Youth Academy platform, we are setting a new standard for youth empowerment,” he said.

He further explained that the ministries were creating pathways for skill development, job placement, and entrepreneurship growth.

“This partnership is focused on action, integrating vocational training, technology, and mentorship to ensure Nigerian youth are equipped with the skills necessary to thrive in today’s competitive economy,” Mr Olawande added.

The minister noted that these initiatives would prepare the youth for available job opportunities and inspire them to become job creators, driving innovation and economic growth across the nation.

Labour minister Nkeiruka Onyejeocha highlighted the ministry’s focus on strengthening Nigeria’s workforce and expanding job opportunities.

“Through LEEP and the NIYA platform, we are setting new standards for youth empowerment by creating pathways for skill development, job placement, and entrepreneurship growth,” Ms Onyejeocha said.

Ms Onyejeocha also reaffirmed that both ministries remained dedicated to advancing employment opportunities, improving working conditions, and fostering a resilient and adaptable workforce.
