Printer jailed two years for stealing laptop

The magistrate gave the convict the option of a fine of N150,000 or to spend two years in prison.

A Jos Magistrates’ Court, on Wednesday, sentenced a 32-year-old printer, Odunayo Awe, to two years in prison for stealing a laptop from a bank.

The magistrate, Shawomi Bokkos, summarily tried and sentenced the convict after he pleaded guilty to the charge.

The magistrate gave the convict the option of a fine of N150,000 or to spend two years in prison.

Earlier, the prosecutor, Insp Ibrahim Gokwat, told the court that the case was reported at the “C” Division Police Station on February 3 by Sunday Yuhana, the complainant.

Mr Gokwat said the convict walked into the bank office and stole the laptop valued at N520,000 before he was caught.
