The governor of Plateau, Simon Lalong, has signed off on monies to the tune of N74 million, following an invitation from the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) to attend an investment summit/meeting in Dubai.

This is contained in a letter titled “Invitation To Participate At The UAE Missions/NGF Investment Meeting And The 11th Global Annual Investment Meeting.”

The letter was signed by Danladi Abok Atu, the Secretary to the Government of the State.

“In light of the foregoing, the Governor is invited to consider and approve the release of the sum of Seventy-Three Million, Six Hundred and Eighty-Six Thousand, Three Hundred and Forty Naira (N73,686,340.00) only as logistics for the trip,” the letter said.

The approved funds broken down in the letter covers three trips for Mr Lalong and his wife, Regina Lalong and their entourage. The group is set to leave Nigeria for Dubai for the summit between the 27th and the 31st.

The itinerary adds three more days, between the 1st and 3rd of April, for a medical check-up and finally, the group will travel to Atlanta, Georgia for a visit. Details for this visit was not disclosed in the document.

This spending is taking place notwithstanding the Debt Management Office said Plateau owed N150.49 billion in the last quarter of 2021.

A huge amount considering the N17 billion the Plateau government said it generated internally from January to September 2021.
