Qatar 2022 Playoff: Okoye to miss Ghana clash as Osimhen, 20 others arrive camp

The Super Eagles were handed a terrible blow on Tuesday with the news that first-choice goalkeeper, Maduka Okoye, would miss the crucial double-header against the Black Stars of Ghana this weekend.
A statement issued by Nigeria Football Federation, said the Netherlands-based shot-stopper was suffering from an undisclosed illness, and will play no part in the game slated for Kumasi, Ghana.
Enyimba goalkeeper, John Noble, has been drafted as a replacement for Okoye, but the latest reports suggest that even he might be nursing an injury. Francis Uzoho and Daniel Akpeyi are the two other goalkeepers in camp.
Reacting to the news on social media, former Super Eagles midfielder Mutiu Adepoju said, “There is no cause for alarm, man. Super Eagles will still get the job done because we have the quality. #SoarEagles,”
Twenty-one players, including Victor Osimhen, have now arrived at The Wells Carlton Hotel and Apartments, where the Super Eagles are camped in Abuja.
Only Almeria’s Sadiq Umar and debutant Akinkunmi Amoo are yet to report to camp.
