Referee Mike Dean to retire end of season; could continue as VAR official

Premier League referee, Mike Dean, will retire from refereeing at the end of the ongoing football season.
He is presently in talks with the relevant authorities and could continue as a permanent video assistant referee.
Dean has been involved in refereeing since his first game in 2000 and has gone on to 553 matches, issuing 114 red cards, a tally that eclipses that of any other referee in the game.
He has spent the best parts of his career officiating the biggest games in football and is extremely popular for his funny and showman-like approach to refereeing.
In addition to his record of red cards issued, Dean also holds the record for most yellow cards issued (2,026) and most penalties given (184) in the premier league.
