Cross River APC assures members no cause for alarm over lawmakers’ sack

The All Progressives Congress in Cross River has called for calm over the judgment of the Federal High Court in Abuja sacking 20 state legislators from the state.
In a statement issued on Tuesday in Calabar by the state APC Publicity Secretary, Erasmus Ekpang, the party assured its members that it plans to approach the appellate court for justice.
Recall that a Federal High Court in Abuja on Monday declared the seats of 20 Cross River lawmakers vacant for defecting from the Peoples Democratic Party to APC.
Justice Taiwo Taiwo in the judgment dismissed the argument of the defence that the PDP, the plaintiff, had no locus standi to institute the case.
“The Federal High Court judgment that was given against our lawmakers is nothing to worry about.
“We trust that the appellate court will do justice as we file our appeal,” the statement said.
