Don’t be like your predecessors, HEDA advises Soludo

Human rights group, HEDA, has advised the newly sworn in governor of Anambra, Charles Soludo against toeing his predecessors paths, who promised and failed the residents of the state.
Olanrewaju Suraju, who chairs the group, gave the advice in a statement on Tuesday.
“We have heard so many promises from the governor for his people, however, he must not be like some of his ostrich predecessors and co governors who promised much but delivered little. He must display the will and commitments to fulfill his vows,” the group said.
Mr Soludo’s immediate predecessor, Willie Obiano, was on Thursday, arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for allegedly misappropriating government funds while in office.
Peoples Gazette had reported how the ex-governor made withdrawals totalling N4 billion from the Anambra state treasury in one day.
In light of this antecedent, Mr Suraju said Mr Soludo should deliver on his promises and stay clear of praise singers.
“Governor Soludo must be careful of political Jobermen, sycophants and Hallelujah boys only good at distracting well intended leaders.”
The HEDA chairman reminded the new governor that he would one day be made to give account of his tenure.
“To whom much is given, more is expected, and this time, very much is expected from him, he must remember that the day of accountability will come,” Mr Suraju said.
