Two arraigned over theft of employer’s 17 fridge compressors worth N2.4 million

Two persons, Yusuf Bakare, 23, and Muhammed, 26, were on Wednesday arraigned before the Ota Magistrates’ Court in Ogun State for allegedly stealing 17 refrigerator compressors valued at N2.4 million belonging to their employer.
The defendants, whose addresses were not provided, are facing a two-count charge of stealing and conspiracy.
The prosecutor, E.O. Adaraloye, told the court that the defendants conspired and stole 17 refrigerator compressors worth N2.4 million belonging to their employer.
The prosecutor said that the offences contravened Sections 390(9) and 427 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ogun, 2006.
The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The magistrate, O. O. Fadairo, granted the defendants bail in the sum of N200,000 each with one surety each in like sum.
Ms Fadairo directed that the surety must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and be gainfully employed with evidence of tax payment to the Ogun government.
The case was adjourned until May 14 for further hearing.
