Teenager arraigned over alleged theft of employer’s N495,000

A teenager, Rejoice Inuwa, was on Wednesday, arraigned before a Life Camp Chief Magistrates’ Court, Abuja, over alleged theft of N495,500 belonging to her employer.
Inuwa, 19, a sales representative, is charged with criminal breach of trust and theft.
The Prosecutor, Charity Nwachukwu, told the court that the complainant, Grace Ojobo of Agura Staff Quarters, Karmo, Abuja, reported the matter at the police station on April 6.
Ms Nwachukwu said that the defendant, an employee of the complainant at Green Grace Garden, Karmo, Abuja, committed the offences on April 2.
She said that Inuwa stole the sum of N495,500, belonging to the complainant, and absconded from duty.
“She was later arrested and handed over to the police for investigation. The defendant has also made confessional statements. She could not give a satisfactory account of the money, and all efforts to recover the money from her proved abortive,” she said.
The Chief Magistrate, Musa Jobbo, admitted the defendant to bail in the sun of N200,000, with a surety in like sum.
Mr Jobbo adjourned the matter until May 29 for hearing.
