A former governor of Abia State, Senator Orji Uzor–Kalu, has said President Bola Tinubu is aware of the current hunger in the country and taking bold decisions to reverse it.

Mr Uzor–Kalu made the assertion on Thursday at Ekoli, Edda Local Government Area of Ebonyi during a New Year visit to his ‘political son’ Stanley Okoro-Emegha, who is the state’s All Progressives Congress chairman.

The senator said that Mr Tinubu was working hard to reverse the situation and urged Nigerians to be patient with him.

He said, “The President is currently taking hard decisions centered on economic development. The President is bold to take such hard decisions. I might not be bold enough to take such decisions if I was the President as he is telling Nigerians that we should start afresh.’’

Mr Uzor-Kalu noted that he was personally sad over the situation but urged Nigerians to show understanding.

“We would soon see the big light at the end of the tunnel,” he said.

Mr Uzor–Kalu noted that the visit to Mr Okoro-Emegha was an annual one, stressing that it fosters the relationship with his ‘political son.’

.

He said, “I promised Okoro–Emegha that as long as God gives us life, I will always pay this new year visit.’’

Mr Okoro-Emegha in his remarks thanked Mr Kalu for the visit, noting that the bond between them would be stronger.

Mr Okoro– Emegha was an aide to Uzor–Kalu when he was the Abia Governor between 1999 and 2007.
