Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, on Thursday, signed the N1.1 trillion appropriation bill for 2025 into law.

“Today, I signed into law the 2025 Rivers State Appropriation Bill. Tagged “Budget of Inclusive Growth & Development”, the bill is estimated at N1.1 trillion,” the governor wrote in a statement on his X handle.

The exercise followed the governor’s presentation of the budget on Monday before a three-member state assembly faction led by Victor Oko-Jumbo who are loyal to him.

Appreciating the lawmakers for their diligence as well as members of his executives for their commitment to service, he said, “Together, we are setting the pace for a prosperous year ahead, focusing on education, healthcare, agriculture, and infrastructure.”

The governor had also in 2024, presented an N800 billion 2024 budget before the lawmakers which was assented to in just a day, without the sacked 27 lawmakers loyal to immediate past governor and Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nysom Wike.

The court sacked the pro-Wike lawmakers after they announced their defection from the Peoples Democratic Party to the All Progressives Congress.
