Tinubu celebrates Iya Abubakar at 90

President Bola Tinubu on Saturday congratulated Prof. Iya Abubakar on his 90th birthday.
The educationist and one-time vice chancellor of Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria, was minister of defence in the Second Republic.
Mr Abubakar, a renowned professor of Mathematics, also served as Senator representing Adamawa North between 1999 and 2007.
Mr Tinubu commended Mr Abubakar for his services to his fatherland at different times in his career, acknowledging his achievements in the academia, Mr Bayo Onanuga, the president’s media aide, said in a statement.
“Abubakar has maintained a dignified life in retirement, resorting to mentorship and counselling of the younger ones and those seeking his wisdom and experience,” said the president.
He prayed to God to grant the former senator robust health to enable him continue to render useful services to the nation.
