Singapore recorded 129 cases of murder, attempted murder, robbery, rioting, and serious harm involving knives as of November 2024, the Ministry of Home Affairs said Tuesday.

Minister of State for Home Affairs Sun Xueling announced that the list of regulated weapons will be expanded to include flick knives and knuckledusters in the first half of 2025.

Mr Sun’s comments came in response to questions regarding knife-related crimes and measures to protect the public following an attack in November where a priest was stabbed during mass.

“The 2024 figure is in line with the average of 133 such cases annually between 2021 and 2023,” Mr Sun said.

The ministry had previously reported around 150 knife-related crimes per year between 2017 and 2021.
