Ondo wins gold, bronze in scrabble event at ongoing Niger-Delta Sports Festival

Ondo State athletes at the ongoing Niger Delta Sports Festival continue to impress by winning gold and bronze medals in the master’s category of scrabble event.
The event held on Saturday at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, took the gold tally for the state to three.
Oluwatimilehin Doko won the gold, while Tunde Saporu settled for bronze in the master’s category of scrabble.
Also, Boluwaji Akinniwesi (male) and Marvelous Otemuyiwa (female) added to the medal haul of the state by winning silver medals in traditional wrestling’s 60kg and 70 kg respectively.
Akinniwesi lost to Delta State, while Otemuyiwa went down to Bayelsa State in their respective finals.
In the game of Tennis, Ondo State’s Henry Aina defeated his counterpart from Rivers State 2-1 (4-2,1-4,10-7) in men’s tennis to qualify for the final of the event.
In Table Tennis, Peter Ezuba won silver in men’s single, while Ojo Funmilayo bagged bronze in the female category.
Ondo State male Basketball defeated their Abia State counterpart 45 – 34 in their first game and got the better of Delta State with 36-32 win, with a game in hand to decide who top the chart, while the female team moved to semi finals.
In handball, Ondo State defeated Rivers State 19-12 and later crush Akwa Ibom State 19–10 in their second game in its quest to qualify for the first round.
