Nasarawa assembly warns contractors handling school projects against shoddy work

The Nasarawa State House of Assembly Committee on Education, Science and Technology, has warned contractors handling construction works in schools across the state to avoid substandard jobs.
The Chairman of the committee, Abel Bala, gave the warning on Tuesday while inspecting the completed and ongoing projects at Government Science Secondary School (GSSS), Karu.
The projects inspected include the renovation of laboratory block, three classrooms block with office and perimeter fencing also in GSSS Karu.
Mr Bala said that the renovation of the laboratory and perimeter fencing already completed were poorly done.
He stated, “We will take up the observations made with the contractors because the work on the laboratory and perimeter fencing was poorly done, just noticing cracks in the building.”
He added that the committee would not fold its hands and watch contractors sabotage the state government’s good intention in the education sector.
“We will ensure that the contractors adhere strictly to their contract specifications. Governor Abdullahi Sule meant well and is doing well in the education sector. We will give him all the necessary support to succeed,” he said.
Mr Bala assured of the committee’s commitment to ensure that the right things were done for the overall development of the state.
Earlier, the school Principal, Abu Sanusi, appreciated the committee for the visit and assured them of the teachers’ commitment to their duties at all times.
In a related development, the committee also visited Nasarawa State University, Keffi, where they inspected the ongoing 4.5Km road project among other completed projects.
The committee Chairman, Bala, commended the state governor for his passion and interest in the education sector.
