NAHCON appoints Alidu Shutti as commission’s acting secretary

Saleh Usman, the executive chairman of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria, has approved the appointment of Alidu Shutti as the acting secretary of the commission with immediate effect.
The commission’s assistant director of information and publications division, Fatima Sanda-Usara, said this in a statement on Wednesday.
She explained that the appointment of Mr Shutti followed the voluntary retirement of the former secretary of NAHCON, Abdullahi Kontagora, on December 6.
Ms Sanda-Usara stated that before his new appointment, Mr Shutti was the director of inspectorate and compliance in the commission since 2023.
She said Mr Shutti would hold the acting capacity pending
appointing a substantive secretary to the commission.
She also said Mr Shutti served the commission in various capacities from 2007 to date, adding that he is a seasoned Hajj and Umrah administrator and a dedicated staff of NAHCON.
According to her, Shutti rose through the ranks of the civil service cadre to become a director.
