Gov. Alia urges prayers for Benue at Easter

Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Alia, has urged Christians to intensify prayers for Benue as the residents celebrate Easter in a mournful mood.
The plea is contained in the governor’s Easter message signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Tersoo Kula on Sunday in Makurdi.
Suspected gunmen on Good Friday attacked and killed over 56 persons in Logo and Ukum Local Government Areas of the state.
Mr Alia solicited prayers, love for one another, forgiveness, sacrifice and reconciliation, saying they are the virtues Christ bequeathed to mankind because of his death, burial and resurrection.
He regretted that this year’s Easter was being marked at a time the state came under several attacks but assured that all would be well soonest.
The governor said that his administration was doing everything within its power in collaboration with security agencies, to ensure the safety of all Benue people.
He called for collaboration among the people of the state to defeat the forces of evil bent on causing pain and agony to the innocent people of the state and across the country.
Mr Alia said Christ’s sacrifice and resurrection demonstrated selflessness, freeing humanity from chaos and condemnation, and nurturing hope and optimism for a life of virtue on earth and eternity.
He prayed for God’s grace and blessings over the people of the state, during and after the period of the Easter celebration.
