Gov Aiyedatiwa upgrades Rufus Giwa poly to university

Governor Lucky Ayedatiwa approved upgrading and converting the state-owned Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo, to the University of Agriculture and Agribusiness.
The approval was disclosed on Wednesday in a statement by Ebenezer Adeniyan, the governor’s chief press secretary.
According to Mr Aiyedatiwa, the conversion of the polytechnic to a specialised university will serve as a model for the Ondo government’s agriculture and food security revolution initiative.
The governor explained that the move was taken after a review of the initial proposal for the upgrade of the polytechnic to a university of management science and technology by the state government under the last administration.
While stressing that the government would set up a committee to work out the modalities for implementing the conversion, Mr Aiyedatiwa assured us that the latest development would not negatively affect the institution’s students and staff.
