Television’s top honour has unveiled the nominees for the 77th Primetime Emmy Awards, with Apple TV+’s Severance, HBO’s The White Lotus, and Max’s The Penguin leading this year’s nominations, dominating categories across drama, limited series, and acting performances.

The full list of nominees was announced by ‘Running Point’ star Brenda Song and ‘What We Do in the Shadows’ actor Harvey Guillén on Tuesday.

This year’s Emmy nominations are led by Apple TV+’s thriller series Severance, which scored the most nods with 27. Close behind is HBO Max’s The Penguin, earning 24 nominations. The Studio and The White Lotus followed, tying for third place with 23 each. Fourth is The Last of Us with 16 nominations, while Andor and Hacks picked up 14 each.

Adolescence, The Pitt, and The Bear rounded out the list with 13 nominations apiece.

HBO Max topped the list of TV networks and streaming platforms with a record-breaking 142 nominations, followed by Netflix with 120, and Apple TV+ with 81.

The 2025 Emmy nominations came with some big snubs and surprise nods. Selena Gomez and Steve Martin were left out for Only Murders in the Building, while Squid Game Season 2 got zero nominations.

Other notable snubs included Natasha Lyonne (Poker Face), Dichen Lachman (Severance), and Allison Janney (The Diplomat).

On the surprise side, Meghann Fahy earned her first lead actress nomination for Sirens, Colman Domingo was recognised for The Four Seasons, and Uzo Aduba scored a nod for The Residence despite its cancellation. Black Mirror had its strongest showing yet, with Rashida Jones landing a lead actress nomination. The Studio also made waves, with guest acting nods for Ron Howard, Martin Scorsese, and Dave Franco.

The 77th Primetime Emmy Awards will be held on Sunday, 14 September, at the Peacock Theatre in Downtown Los Angeles, with comedian Nate Bargatze set to host the ceremony.
