Delta: 106 suspected criminals arrested in first quarter of 2025, police say

The Delta State Police Command on Thursday disclosed that over 106 suspects were arrested for various crimes in the first quarter of 2025.
The command’s spokesperson, Bright Edafe, in a statement, said the suspects committed crimes ranging from armed robbery to kidnapping and rape.
Mr Edafe said 13 victims were released from their abductors within the period.
Mr Edafe said, “In the first quarter of this year, Delta State command arrested over one hundred and six (106) suspects involved in serious crimes, which include thirty-five (35) suspected armed robbers, twenty-four (24) suspected kidnappers, twenty-one (21) murder suspects, twenty-two (22) suspected cultists, four (4) suspects arrested for rape and defilement offences and a total number of thirteen (13) kidnapped victims were rescued.
“A total number of Fifty-three (53) firearms, which includes eleven (11) AK-47 rifles, nine (9) Beretta pistols, nineteen (19) single-barrel/locally made cut-to-size guns, and thirteen (13) pump action guns were recovered.
“Lastly, a total of five thousand, six hundred and twelve (5,612) rounds of ammunition/cartridges were also recovered within the period under review,” Mr Edafe said.
He urged residents to report suspicious persons or movements in their environment to the nearest police station or call any of its control room numbers.
