‘Bloody serpent,’ Akeredolu’s widow slams husband’s niece for supporting Aiyedatiwa’s guber ambition

Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu has criticised her late husband and former Ondo Governor Rotimi Akeredolu’s niece for allegedly supporting the governorship aspiration of incumbent Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa.
Mr Akeredolu’s niece, Funke Akeredolu-Aruna, was the former deputy chief of protocol in the state.
In a social media post on Monday, Mrs Akeredolu described her late husband’s niece as “shameless” for supporting Mr Ayedatiwa, who is eyeing the All Progressives Congress ticket for the November 16 gubernatorial election.
“Behold the face of Aketi’s niece, Funke Akeredolu Aruna, the former deputy chief protocol to Aketi, shamelessly parades as ‘I am lucky’ Bloody serpent! Time will tell if she is truly lucky!” the widow said on her Instagram.
Mrs Akeredolu’s outburst came after her late husband’s niece shared a photo on social media, wearing an outfit and face cap to support Mr Aiyedatiwa.
Criticisms have since trailed her post, with many saying Mrs Akeredolu should still be mourning her husband and not engaging in pettiness.
There had been animosity between the late governor’s wife and Mr Aiyedatiwa before Mr Akeredolu died on December 27 after an illness.
Before Mr Akeredolu died, internal wrangling had severed his relationship with Mr Aiyedatiwa, formerly the state deputy governor. The crisis bothered by allegations of disloyalty.
Also, the lawmakers of the state house of assembly led by Olamide Oladiji had attempted to impeach Mr Aiyedatiwa after he was slammed with allegations of financial racketeering.
Mr Aiyedatiwa had declared his intent to run for office in the November 16 governorship election, saying he prepared to serve for more than a year in the current office.
