The police command in Adamawa, in collaboration with sister security agencies, has placed adequate arrangements to ensure security of lives and property before, during and after the yuletide.

The command spokesman, DSP Suleiman Nguroje, said this in a statement issued to newsmen on Tuesday in Yola.

Mr Nguroje said that the Commissioner of Police in the state, Dankombo Morris, had directed all divisional police officers, heads of departments, tactical commanders and area commanders to personally lead the security deployments in their areas of responsibilities.

He said that the commissioner directed them to ensure adequate security at places of worship, event centres, residential areas and recreational facilities.

“There will be stop-and-search operations at all entry roads as well as 24 hours visibility policing and vehicular patrols.

“We will ensure effective traffic and crowd control for free flow of human and vehicular traffic as well as surveillance on information gathering for effective policing,” he said.

According to him, the command equally advises members of the public to give timely and actionable information to the police.

He called on the public to report any suspicious movement around them and their neighborhood to the nearest police personnel or station.

“Avoid any strange object until you are sure of what it is and avoid dangerous and reckless driving,” he said.

Mr Nguroje further said that the command, however, noted the ban on the use of fireworks and fire-crackers, covered number plates and unauthorised use of siren as well as tinted glasses in the state.

He urged the public to report any disturbing situations to the nearest police station or call the emergency numbers:  08089671313, 07068283848 or 08038666304.
