Woman, 54, arraigned for allegedly assaulting microfinance bank emplyee

A 54-year-old woman, Ogunleye Titilayo, on Tuesday appeared before an Ado-Ekiti Magistrates’ Court for allegedly assaulting a microfinance bank worker.
Titilayo, whose address was not provided, is facing a charge of assault.
The prosecutor, Inspector Adeoye Adesegun told the court that the defendant committed the offence on January 8 at about 9:00a.m at Similoluwa Street in Ado-Ekiti.
He alleged that the defendant assaulted the complainant, Adebayo Jose, an employee of a microfinance bank, who came to recover loan from her, by beating her up and tore her cloth.
Adesegun said the offence contravened Section 187 (c) of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2021.
He urged the court to adjourn the case to enable him study the file and assemble his witnesses.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge preferred against her.
The defence counsel, Mrs Joy Raphael, urged the court to grant the defendant bail, with a promise that she would not jump bail.
The Magistrate, Olatomiwa Daramola, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N50,000 with one surety in like sum.
He adjourned the case until February 13 for hearing.
