Woman, 35, arraigned over alleged PoS business fraud

The police in Lagos have dragged a 35-year-old woman, Tawa Adigun, before an Ojo Magistrates’ Court in Lagos, for allegedly obtaining by false pretences.
The defendant appeared in court on a two-count charge bordering on obtaining by false pretences and stealing.
She, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The prosecutor, Inspector Esther Adesulu, told the court that the defendant committed the offence in October 2023, at the Shibiri area of Ojo, Lagos.
She alleged that the defendant unlawfully obtained the sum of N500,000 from one Olaide Yusuf, under a false pretext of using same to start up a Point of Sale business for the complainant.

The Magistrate, Mrs A.M. Alade, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.
She adjourned the case until November 5 for mention.
