The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons, Kano Zonal Command, has received 15 rescued victims of human trafficking.

The agency’s Zonal Commander, Abdullahi Babale, stated this on Wednesday in Kano at the handing over of the rescued victims by the Nigeria Police Force Kano State Command.

Mr Babale said that the victims, whose final destination was Libya, were rescued in a house at Bachirawa Quarters in Kano by a team of policemen attached to Bachirawa Division.

The NAPTIP boss said the ages of victims being trafficked were between 17 and 40 and comprised 14 females and one male.

Mr Babale said, “The rescued victims are from Akwa Ibom, Ogun, Cross River and Ekiti states.’’

He commended the Kano State Commissioner of Police, Salman Dogo-Garba, for his cooperation.

The zonal commander said that the victims would be counselled and rehabilitated before being reunited with their families.

He called on parents to protect their children from being exploited and lured into slavery in the name of seeking greener pasture.

Mr Babale urged the public to report suspicious cases of human traffickers and trafficking in their respective communities.
