Volleyball: Ajayi optimistic of picking African Games qualifying ticket

The head coach of the Nigerian women’s senior volleyball team, Samuel Ajayi, said on Thursday in Abuja that he was confident the team would pick a ticket for the African Games in Ghana.
Ajaji said the team was determined to make the federation and the nation proud in the qualifiers. He said the team was determined to feature in the African Games in March.
“The team is well prepared for the qualifiers, and the players are determined to win all their games so that they can represent the federation in Ghana.
“The team aims to qualify and win a medal, and to achieve this, the players need to be focused and play all their matches with instructions,” he said.
Twelve players for the upcoming African Games qualifiers in Lagos.
They are Sharon Achi, Aliyah Usman, Ijeoma Ukpabi (Captain), Maryam Ibrahim, Mirabel Onyegwu, Happy Wushilang, Blessing Unekwe, Deborah Chukwu, Ifunanya Udeagbala, Kelechi Ndukauba, Albertina Francis and Jummai Bitrus.
Ukpabi was selected to captain the team. Bitrus is the assistant captain.
The 2024 African Games qualifiers are scheduled for January 4 to 8 at the National Stadium in Lagos.
The 13th edition of the games will be held in Ghana from March 8 to 23.
