Unknown gunmen kill police officer in Calabar

Sergeant Peter Ikwen of the Cross River Police Command has been killed by unknown gunmen, authorities confirmed on Saturday.
Mr Ikwen was gunned down on Edgerton Street in Calabar in the early hours of Saturday.
Police spokesman in the state, Irene Ugbo, confirmed the attack, further disclosing that “his rifle was taken away by the assailants.”
Ms Igbo stated that an investigation has begun to unravel those behind the act, which she described as condemnable.
