UBEC unveils strategic framework to strengthen basic education

The Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) is to adopt public-private partnerships (PPP) as a key priority in its new strategic blueprint for delivering basic education services across the country.
The commission’s head of public relations and protocol, David Apeh, said this in a statement on Sunday in Abuja.
Mr Apeh quoted UBEC’s executive secretary, Aisha Garba, as making the remarks during a series of meetings with private sector stakeholders, including Tonia Uduimoh, head of the Oando Foundation.
Ms Garba emphasised the importance of strong collaboration between the government and the private sector to advance basic education in Nigeria.
She expressed UBEC’s commitment to reviewing proposed frameworks from private sector partners and establishing a structured platform for PPP-driven initiatives.
According to her, these partnerships will incorporate sustainable models for private sector investment in strengthening the country’s basic education system.
Ms Uduimoh, programme manager of the Oando Foundation, highlighted the foundation’s contributions to the sector, including investments in infrastructure rehabilitation and the provision of teaching and learning materials.
She noted that these efforts had significantly improved access to education and learning quality across Nigeria.
