Two men in court over alleged theft of cell phones worth N2 million

Two men – Aina Samuel, and Umaru Yusuf, on Tuesday appeared before an Ikorodu Magistrates’ Court, Lagos, for allegedly stealing cell phones worth N2. 013 million from a shop.
Samuel, 25, and Yusuf, 20, whose addresses were not provided, are facing a four-count charge of conspiracy, stealing, malicious damage and breach of peace.
They, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The prosecutor, Inspector Adegeshin Famuyiwa, told the court that the defendants committed the offences on June 10 at No 1, Itoikin Road, Ikorodu, Lagos.
Mr Famuyiwa said the defendants unlawfully broke into the shop of Omolara Adams and stole three Samsung phones valued at N2. 013 million.
He said that the defendants maliciously damaged the shop and conducted themselves in a manner likely to breach the peace.
Mr Famuyiwa said that the offences contravened Sections 411, 287, 307 and 168(D) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
Section 287 stipulates three years jail term for stealing, while Section 411 provides two years for conspiracy.
The Magistrate, A. O. Ogbe, granted the defendants bail in the sum of N200,000 each with two sureties each in like sum.
Mr Ogbe adjourned the case until July 31 for mention.
