Two men arraigned over alleged theft of building materials worth N7.1million

The magistrate adjourned the case until May 12 for mention.

The police in Lagos on Tuesday arraigned two men before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing their employer’s building materials valued at N7.1 million.

The defendants Yusuf Jimoh, 41, iron bender and Ayodeji Temilade, 46, bricklayer, are tried for conspiracy and stealing.

The Prosecutor, Inspector Funmilola Akinleye told the court that the offences were committed between September 1 to September 17, 2024, at 2 Niran Akinloye Avenue, Ajegunle Alakuko, Lagos.

Mr Akinleye said that the defendants stole galvanised pipes, iron rods, 200 bags of cement, all valued, N7.165,000 from the site of Israel Akinola.

The offences according to the prosecutor contravened Sections 287 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The Magistrate, Seyi Omodara, granted the defendants bail of N350,000 each with two sureties in like sum.

Mr Omodara adjourned the case until May 12 for mention.
