Two men– Taiwo Adesokan, 32 and Gbolagade Sikiru, 25 – on Thursday appeared before an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court, Ibadan, Oyo State, for allegedly stealing palm kernel worth N5, 120, 000.

The duo, whose addresses were not provided, was charged with conspiracy, stealing and receiving stolen property.

The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The prosecutor, Inspector Musbau Lawal, told the court that the defendants committed the offences on September 6, at 5.30 p.m., at Operinde Village, Ibadan.

Mr Lawal said that Adesokan stole the palm kernel from one Adekunle Afolabi while Sikiru received it, knowing that it was stolen.

The prosecutor said that the offences contravened Sections 517, 390(9) and 427 of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.

The Magistrate, Olaolu Olanipekun, granted the defendants bail in the sum of N1 million each, with two sureties each in like sum.

He adjourned the case until November 25, for hearing.
