President Donald Trump clapped back at embattled Minnesota lawmaker Ilhan Omar with a meme, calling her a scam from Somalia.

On Saturday, Mr Trump posted a screenshot of an incoming phone call with a portrait of Ms Omar without her hijab and an inscription that reads: “Scam likely from Mugadishu, Somalia.”

The American president’s post comes barely four hours after Ms Omar labelled him the “paedophile protection party’s president” on Friday.

“The paedophile protection party’s president is laundering right-wing conspiracy theories through the most corrupt DOJ in American history,” Ms Omar said on X on Friday, posting a screenshot of Mr Trump’s social media post calling on the House speaker to declare her seat vacant.

“Whenever the news turns bad, this creep reaches for one name: mine. So let’s make it crystal clear. My name has always been Ilhan Omar. Maybe you should focus on what your VP’s real name is,” Ms Omar said.

Ms Omar has been in the eye of the storm since federal agents raided her Washington, D.C. home last week over alleged immigration fraud involving her and her former husband, Ahmed Nur Said Elmi, who is said to be her brother.
