Tiwa Savage petitions police over Davido’s threat to her life 

Last Tuesday, Nigerian singer Tiwa Savage filed a petition over an alleged threat to her life by Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido.

In the petition addressed to the Lagos State Commissioner of Police and dated January 9, 2024, The “Somebody’s Son” crooner stated that Davido threatened to “fuck me up.”

The controversy began when they unfollowed each other on Instagram, sparking speculation that the rift was related to Tiwa Savage’s friendship with Davido’s baby mama, Sophia Momodu. Tiwa Savage’s ex-husband, Teebillz, had also threatened to confront Davido for perceived disrespect.

Tiwa Savage’s entry into Nollywood with ‘Water and Garri’ set to debut on Prime Video

Tiwa Savage makes her debut in Nollywood with ‘Water And Garri.’ She announced the news via her Instagram handle, sharing that the film, named after her second Extended Play of the same title, is set to premiere on Prime Video and will be accessible in 240 countries. 

The singer expressed that the movie, which she considers one of her most adventurous ventures, took two years to produce, underscoring her dual roles as the lead actor and executive producer.

Odumodu Blvck, Bloody Civilian, Qing Madi among Apple Music’s Africa Rising Class of 2024

Rising Nigerian musicians Odumodu Blvck, Bloody Civilian, and Qing Madi have been selected as part of Apple Music’s Rising Class of 2024. 

These artists join a roster that includes South African pop sensation Tyla, Nigerian Afropop singer-songwriter Qing Madi, Nigerian Afrobeats singer-songwriter and producer Bloody Civilian, Nigerian rapper and singer OdumoduBlvck, Ghanaian R&B songstress Mellissa, and South African street rapper Maglera Doe Boy.

Since 2020, Apple Music has been running an artiste development programme called Africa Rising. 

Asake drops his first single of 2024 ‘Only Me’

Nigerian music star Asake has dropped his first single of the year titled ‘Only Me.’ The song was released on Saturday, marking the artiste’s 29th birthday, and the track signifies his journey in the industry to self-acceptance. 

Asake recently earned his first Grammy nomination for his song ‘Lonely At The Top,’ which is now in contention for the Best African Music Performance category at the upcoming Grammy Awards scheduled for next month.
