Tinubu’s govt promises promotion of Nigerians low-sulphur fuel, CNG

The federal government has assured Nigerians and all key stakeholders of adequate low-sulphur fuel and compressed natural gas promotion.
Balarabe Lawal, Minister of Environment, stated this in Abuja on Sunday while inaugurating the Inter-Agency Committee on Fuels, which promotes using low-sulphur fuel and CNG.
The minister explained that using cleaner fuels would significantly reduce air pollution and human health challenges caused by high sulphur in petroleum products.
He stated that high sulphur fuels had been linked to rising cases of asthma attacks, acute/chronic bronchitis, chronic obstructive lung diseases and many other ailments.
Mr Lawal further stated that the Nigeria Industrial Standards for Sulphur concentration in petrol, diesel, and kerosene had been reviewed, which was made possible by the ministry’s mandate and the support of the critical stakeholders.
