Tinubu renames University of Maiduguri after ex-president Buhari

President Bola Tinubu has renamed the University of Maiduguri in Borno State after ex-President Muhammadu Buhari.
Mr Tinubu announced this on Thursday during an expanded FEC meeting at the Presidential Villa in Abuja in honour of the erstwhile Nigerian leader.
“Before we take the prayers in honour of his memory, with this special session of the Federal Executive Council (expanded), can we adopt the naming of the University of Maiduguri with a new name — Muhammadu Buhari University, Maiduguri?” said Mr Tinubu.
Mr Tinubu’s decision came days after a group urged the president to immortalise Mr Buhari for his contributions to the country’s development.
Mr Buhari was buried in his hometown in Daura, Katsina State, on Tuesday. He died on Sunday, July 13, in a London hospital after a prolonged illness.
Several prominent Nigerians had shared tributes for the late president, hailing his contributions to the country’s growth and development.
