Wolverhampton Wanderers have honoured former forward Diogo Jota with an induction into the club’s hall of fame, placing him among a select group of club legends.

Wolves announced the induction of the late striker into the club’s Hall of Fame on Thursday, July 17.

The club statement read, “Diogo Jota has been inducted into the Wolves Hall of Fame, a tribute that honours both his remarkable achievements for the club and the deep impact his passing has had on the footballing world.

“Inductions into the most coveted part of the club’s museum are typically the result of detailed discussions over many weeks or months, but in this case, the decision was unanimous, a reflection of the overwhelming emotion felt by supporters and the wider football community, and the remarkable legacy Diogo leaves behind.

“There is such a feeling of sadness and disbelief around this awful tragedy that we wanted to make this tribute of our own as soon as we could,” said Wolves Hall of Fame chairman and club vice-president, John Richards.”

The club also revealed plans to honour Jota and his brother during their final pre-season clash against Celta Vigo on Saturday, August 9, with the main tribute set for their Premier League opener at home to Manchester City on Saturday, August 16.

The Portuguese footballer tragically passed away on July 3, alongside his brother André Silva, in Spain’s Zamora province. His death comes just days after marrying his longtime partner, with whom he had three children.

Jota joined Wolves from Atletico Madrid in July 2017, initially on a season-long loan spell before making a permanent move to the Molineux.

Jota scored 44 goals in 131 appearances and played an instrumental role in helping Wolves win the Championship title in 2017–18, securing promotion to the top flight.

He later sealed a move to Liverpool in 2020, where he scored 65 goals in 182 appearances across all competitions, becoming a fan favourite at Anfield.

During his time at the club, Jota won the Premier League title in the 2024/2025 season, one FA Cup, two EFL/Carabao Cups, and also lifted the UEFA Nations League with Portugal in both 2019 and 2025.

The Reds also paid tribute by retiring the No. 20 shirt, a number worn proudly by the Portuguese international during his memorable time at Anfield.
