Ten thousand police personnel deployed for Sallah festivities in Kaduna: Spokesman

Police command in Kaduna State has deployed no fewer than 10,000 operatives to ensure safety and security of lives and property during the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations.
Spokesman Mohammed Jalige said this in a statement on Friday in Kaduna.
Mr Jalige said that the command had made strategic security arrangements for this year’s Eid el-Kabir celebrations in the state.
According to him, the deployment is drawn from the command’s manpower and logistical resources, comprising the conventional, tactical and intelligence assets, all aimed at ensuring that the celebrations are hitch-free in the state.
He explained that the personnel were saddled with the responsibility of providing security to worshipers in their respective worship centres as well as critical national infrastructures, markets, social and recreational centres, major highways and other public spaces.
Mr Jalige said that the arrangement was in line with the mandate and directive of the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Alkali Usman, for public space to be dominated and secured.
“The Commissioner of Police, Kaduna Command, Mr Yekini Ayoku, is calling on the general public to take their personal and family safety very seriously,” he said.
The police spokesman urged parents and guardians to warn their children and wards against use of fireworks (knock-outs) in public places, saying that violators would be severely dealt with in accordance with extant laws of the land.
While urging the citizens to go about their lawful activities without fear of intimidation or harassment from any quarter, he said that they should report any suspicious object or person through the command’s emergency contacts: 07039675856 and 08075391105 for prompt action.
Mr Jalige quoted the police commissioner as advising road users to drive carefully and be conscious of their environment, as well as cooperate with security operatives at every point of contact and need.
He felicitated Muslim faithful in the state, urging them to use the festival to pray for peace and security of the nation and the state in particular.
