Ekiti man docked for allegedly stealing motorcycle worth N260,000

The police on Friday arraigned a 33-year-old man, Basiru Adebayo, before an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing a motorcycle valued at N260,000.
The defendant, of no fixed address, is standing trial on a one-count charge of stealing.
The prosecutor, Sodiq Adeniyi, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on May 6 in Ado-Ekiti.
He said that the defendant stole one Bajaj motorcycle with registration number DEA 151 VC colour red valued at N260,000 belonging to the complainant, Dupe Opeyemi.
Inspector Adeniyi said that the offence contravened Section 390(9) of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ekiti State, 2012, to which the defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Chief Magistrate, Franca Olaiya, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N50,000 with one surety in like sum.
Mrs Olaiya said the surety must be at least a grade level 7 officer in Ekiti Civil Service. She adjourned the case until August 11 for hearing.
