Teenagers arraigned over alleged house breaking, theft

Two teenagers, Nasiru Kabiru, and Amisu Oseni, were on Tuesday brought before an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court for alleged house breaking and stealing of items worth N800,000.
Kabiru, 19 and Oseni, 19, who are of unknown addresses, are facing a two-count charge of house breaking and stealing.
The prosecutor, Inspector Sodiq Adeniyi, told the court that the defendants committed the offences on January 9 at about 2.30 p.m. in Ado-Ekiti.
He alleged that the defendants broke into the house of the complainant, Bolaji Temidayo, and stole shoes, clothes and other household items valued at N800,000.
According to him, the offences contravene Sections 325 and 302 of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2021.
The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge preferred against them.
The prosecutor prayed the court for an adjournment to enable him study the case file and present his witnesses.
Counsel to the defendants, Mr Tolulope Bewaji, urged the court to grant bail to his clients.
He told the court that the defendants would not jump bail.
The Chief Magistrate, Dolamu Babalogbon, granted bail to the defendants in the sum of N50,000 each with one surety each in like sum.
She adjourned the case until February 12 for hearing.
