TakeitBack movement urges FG, security agencies to end killings in Plateau

A group, Take it Back Movement, has called on the Federal Government and the security agencies to intensify efforts towards tackling the security challenges in Plateau.
The group’s Coordinator in Plateau, John Onah, made the call during a press conference on Thursday in Jos.
Mr Onah particularly decried the resurgence of attacks, killings and wanton destruction of properties in Mangu, Bassa, Barkin Ladi, Riyom and Bokkos Local Government Areas of the state.
The coordinator, who commended the Plateau State Government for its commitment to addressing the situation through dialogue, called for concerted efforts towards nipping it in the bud.
He also called on the federal government to provide immediate support to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) scattered all over the state.
He said, “The Plateau government has shown visible efforts in dialogue and peace commissions, but good intentions must translate into bold actions. We call on the federal government and the security agencies to deploy intelligence-driven operations to the affected communities in Plateau. There should be a coordinated humanitarian response to address displacements, hunger and healthcare in affected communities. Government should also invest in rebuilding sacked villages and restoring livelihoods to prevent future violence.’’
Mr Onah further called on the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) to investigate the attacks and killings in the state.
He called on the Plateau State government to support vigilance groups and equip Operation Rainbow, its own security outfit to tackle the security challenges in the state.
