Democracy Day: Coalition rallies support for Tinubu’s policies

A coalition of Nigerian youth groups have canvassed support for President Bola Tinubu’s policies and programmes for speed delivery of dividends of democracy in the country.
Leaders of the coalition made the call on Thursday in Abuja, while addressing journalists on the sideline of a walk organised to mark the 2025 Democracy Day celebration.
The coalition included Arewa Youth Group, Ndi-Igbo Youth Community, the APC Youth League, among others.
In his remarks, the Chairman, Forum of Special Advisers and Senior Special Assistants on Youths to the Governors of Nigeria, Dr Eric Uwakwe, commended Mr Tinubu for the appointment of youths into his cabinet and the students’ loan initiative.
Mr Uwakwe said that the youths were out on the loyalty work to canvass support for the polices, plans and programmes of the president.
He stated, “We decided to celebrate him as an icon of hope. I want to call on the Nigerian youths to come out in support of Mr President’s plans and programme for speedy delivery of the dividends of democracy for all. He has plans for the youths which we have seen in the appointment of youths into his cabinet and the students’ loan initiative. Let us all support him.’’
Also speaking, the National President, All Progressives Congress (APC) Youth League, Olamide Lawal, described Mr Tinubu as a “hardworking President.”
Mr Lawal stated, “We are here today in solidarity with President Bola Tinubu for the works done in the last two years. This is Democracy Day, and it is a privilege for us to celebrate a great democrat; this will be replicated across all 36 states.’’
Earlier, the Director-General, National Board for Technology Incubation (NBTI) Dr Kazeem Raji, while declaring the event open, commended the youths for coming together despite their political and religious differences to felicitate the President on democracy day.
Mr Raji said that Tinubu had done well in terms of youth inclusion in his government with about 60 per cent of appointees being youths.
He said that the students’ loan initiative had impacted greatly on the Nigerian youths and the quest for education.
He said that the Lagos-Calabar highway and Badagry-Sokoto highway projects, when completed, would not only be the best in Africa, but would generate high economic activities to the benefit of the youths.
He said that a lot of work was being done in the rail transport sector which would further connect the nation for greater economic growth.
He stated, “This is the best time to appreciate what the President is doing for the youths. Look at what he has done in terms of students’ loan. Now, many of our students are enrolling in schools. You don’t have to be from a rich home before you can go to school.
Looking at the tax reform initiative, many won’t believe that colonial tax is what Nigeria has been using not until the president came with the vision to reform the tax system for the benefit of Nigerians. I commend the organisers of this walk and on behalf of the Nigerian youths and all lovers of the President, declare the walk open.’’
