Supreme Court’s affirmation of Gov. Lawal’s election, victory for Zamfara people: Group

The Hope Arewa Development Initiative has said the affirmation of the election of Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State by the Supreme Court is a victory for the masses.
The group’s National Coordinator, Alhaji Adamu Mohammed, said this in a statement on Sunday in Abuja.
He said the victory was for the people of the state. Mr Mohammed said the apex court’s ruling was in the best interest of the people.
He said of interest was the meticulous way the governor had been handling the security challenges bedevilling the state.
“This is a divine intervention, and we salute the Supreme Court justices for proving that the judiciary is indeed the last hope of the common man. We appreciate the fact that power is from God, but condemn in totality the clandestine moves by some political elites in the state to truncate what God has destined to happen. We have no doubt in our minds that the Rescue Zamfara Agenda of Governor Lawal has come to stay, and it will benefit the people no doubt,” he said.
The national coordinator expressed optimism that even if the re-run election were to be held, Lawal would still emerge victorious.
This, he said, was considering what he had been doing since his assumption of office.
“He is a God sent leader who has impacted positively on the lives of the people of Zamfara. As a true politician we commend Governor Lawal who after his victory, extended hands of fellowship to his opponents. That is the hallmark of a great politician.
“They should throw politics aside and join hands with Lawal to rebuild and restore the glory of the state. We believe in his ability to lead Zamfara with all sense of sincerity, honesty and fear of God,” he said.
Mr Mohammed urged the people to put all that had happened behind and rally round the governor in his quest to develop the state and make it a destination for investors.
He commended President Bola Tinubu for being neutral in the Supreme Court judgment.
“His singular act of non-interference has proven that the independence of the judiciary is assured and this will deepen the nation’s democracy,” he said.
