Manchester United have sealed the signing of Brentford winger and Cameroonian international Bryan Mbeumo.

The 25-year-old forward joins the Red Devils with the No. 19 shirt on a five-year deal from Brentford, which runs all through until June 2030 with an option to extend his time at the club.

The agreement included a third offer by United that was put forward last week following a lengthy transfer window saga involving both clubs. The deal is valued at an initial £65 million, plus an additional £6 million in add-ons.

In June, the Red Devils had two initial bids of £55 million and £62.5 million rejected by Brentford.

The signing of Mbeumo becomes United’s fourth signing and the third for Ruben Amorim’s signing of the summer transfer window after the signing of Matheus Cunha and Diego Leon, who both made their debuts last week for the club on their pre-season tour.

Bryan Mbeumo, who also stands like teammate Matheus Cunha, is a Premier League-proven player who will fit in perfectly with Ruben Amorim’s system and is also familiar with playing within it.

He delivered an impressive goal tally, scoring 20 goals and providing 7 assists during his campaign with Brentford last season. He finished as the fourth-highest goal scorer in the league. Since The Bees were promoted to the Premier League, he has averaged an impressive 18 goal contributions per season, netting 70 goals with 51 assists in 242 games since joining the club in 2019.

Speaking about joining his new team, Mbeumo said, “As soon as I knew there was a chance to join Manchester United, I had to take the opportunity to sign for the club of my dreams; the team whose shirt I wore growing up.”

According to reports, Manchester United are currently prioritising the signing of a striker to boost their attacking options.

The club is in need of a reliable name to strengthen the No.9 role, and a few targets have already been linked, including RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Šeško, Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins, Sporting’s Viktor Gyökeres, and Chelsea’s Nicolas Jackson.
