South-South PDP hails UNIPORT for honouring Wike with honorary doctorate

The South-South Zonal leadership of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has commended the University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT), Rivers State, for conferring an honorary doctorate degree on the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
The party described the recognition as a testament to Mr Wike’s impactful leadership and service to the nation.
Mr Wike received the Doctor of Science degree in Political Science (D.Sc Honoris Causa) on Saturday, during UNIPORT’s 35th combined convocation and 50th anniversary celebration in Port Harcourt.
In a statement issued shortly after the event on Saturday, the PDP National Vice Chairman (South South), Dan Osi-Orbih, described the honour as “well-earned and deserving.”
He cited Mr Wike’s significant contributions to governance, public service, and infrastructural development as reasons for the recognition.
Mr Osi-Orbih stated, “From his trailblazing tenure as Governor of Rivers State to his current national assignment in the FCT, Wike’s commitment to excellence has remained unwavering’.’’
He lauded the minister’s role in the development of both UNIPORT and Rivers State and noted that Mr Wike continued to be a “tower of hope and a shining example of what purposeful leadership can achieve.”
Mr Osi-Orbih thanked the UNIPORT Governing Council and management for finding Mr Wike deserving of the honour, adding that the PDP in the South-South region remained proud of his achievements and dedication to democratic ideals.
He stated, “We will continue to celebrate him not just as a South-South leader, but as a true statesman whose influence transcends regional boundaries.’’
