School bus driver kidnaps, defiles student, collects N173,000 ransom from her father

The Delta State Police Command has arrested a school bus driver, Onome Lucky, for allegedly kidnapping a 14-year-old female student last Tuesday.
The command’s spokesperson, Bright Edafe, in a video on X, said the 28-year-old suspect also defiled the teenage victim and collected N173,000 ransom from her father.
Mr Edafe said, “Onome Lucky went to the house of a certain young girl, aged 14 years, carried her, and instead of taking her to school, he took her to a bush, called the father of the girl that his child had been kidnapped.
“It didn’t end there. He went ahead and violently defiled the 14-year-old girl. In the midst of all her begging and pleading, he disvirgined that girl violently and also collected a ransom of N173,000 after demanding for N200,000.”
The suspect, who said the school employed him in September, admitted to the crime. He told the police that he spent the ransom at a brothel to secure the services of prostitutes.
Mr Edafe said the suspect also hid in a brothel for two days before police operation were able to arrest him.
The police spokesman vowed that justice will be served. He advised schools to make serious efforts to know the people they employ.
