Rema, Tems, Wizkid, Asake nominated for 2025 American Music Awards

Nigeria’s music stars, Rema, Tems, Wizkid, and Asake, have been nominated for the Favourite Afrobeats artiste category at the 2025 American Music Awards.
They are accompanied by Grammy-award-winning South African singer Tyla in the Favourite Afrobeats Artiste category.
The category was first introduced in 2022, and Wizkid made history by becoming the inaugural winner of the award. His victory showed the global reach and recognition of the Afrobeats genre.
The 2025 AMA Awards will be broadcast live from Las Vegas on May 26th.
Three exciting new categories are being added to this year’s ceremony: Song of the Year, Album of the Year, and Social Song of the Year.
Jennifer Lopez will return to the stage as host after hosting the awards in 2015.
U.S. rapper Kendrick Lamar leads the nods with ten nominations overall, including Artiste of the Year, Album of the Year for “GNX,” and Song of the Year for “Not Like Us.”
He secured three of the five nominations for Favourite Hip-Hop Song, which include “Like That” featuring Future and Metro Boomin, “Not Like Us,” and “Luther” featuring SZA. Following behind him are Post Malone with eight nods, Billie Eilish, Chappell Roan, and Shaboozey have seven, while Bruno Mars, Lady Gaga, Wallen, Carpenter, SZA, and Swift have six.
Chappell Roan is the only musician nominated in all three new categories.
