The Anambra State police command said it will debrief victims of abduction as part of measures to restore law and order and public safety in the state.

The command’s Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, disclosed this to journalists in Awka on Tuesday.

He said, “The police command in Anambra State has expressed willingness to work with the victims of kidnap for necessary action, especially in its continuous efforts of to deny criminals the space to wreak havoc and to create a safer environment for citizens in the state.’’

According to him, the command’s commitment is in response to a recent publication in the social media on the release of the two reverend sisters recently abducted along Ufuma road, Orumba North Local Government Area of the state.

The police spokesperson noted that the command was responding to a video of an alleged escape of one Onyebuchi Okocha, popularly known as Onyeze Jesus from a criminal gang’s hideout.

Mr Ikenga explained that the command was awaiting the recuperation of the victims for possible debriefing by the investigating officers.

He assured of the command’s efforts to improve security through effective surveillance to ensure public safety.

Anambra State had grappled with security challenges especially kidnapping and targeted assassinations.
