Police nab three suspects with human skull, hen in Imo

The police command in Imo State said it arrested three suspects with a human skull, a native hen, and white garments on the Okigwe-Umuahia expressway.
The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Henry Okoye, stated this in a statement on Wednesday in Owerri.
He said that the suspects were arrested by operatives of the Okigwe Divisional Headquarters in collaboration with residents of the Ogii community on February 3.
Mr Okoye said that the suspects, Patrick Okoere, 29, Ifeanyichukwu Anyaemeka, 28, and Chukwuemeka Onyekachi, 20, were currently under investigation.
“During questioning, Okoera stated that his uncle, Osunta Oko, asked him to acquire a human skull. He claimed to have found it along a riverbank on the Okigwe-Umuahia expressway, an area where the command has received cases of kidnappings,” Mr Okoye said.
The police spokesman said the command was actively pursuing Mr Oko and other possible accomplices in connection with the incident.
He stated, “In addition, a DNA analysis is underway to determine the identity of the skull’s owner.’’
Mr Okoye reiterated the commitment of the Commissioner of Police, Aboki Danjuma, to safeguarding the safety and security of residents.
He emphasised that justice would be served and the suspects would face prosecution upon completion of investigation.
