Police nab robbery suspect, recover weapons in Delta

The police command in Delta has apprehended a robbery/kidnap suspect in Agbarho Community, Ughelli North Local Government Area of the state.
The spokesman of the command, SP Bright Edafe, disclosed this to journalists on Wednesday in Warri.
Mr Edafe said that the suspect was arrested on Friday by police operatives attached to the Agbarho Division, following a tip-off from members of the public.
He said, “The Divisional Police Officer, Agbarho Division, while acting on a tip-off, mobilised his patrol team to the residence of the 40-years-old suspect. A search warrant was executed in the suspect’s residence and one G3 rifle, pump action gun and a cutlass were recovered.’’
Mr Edafe said that the exhibits were hidden inside the roof of the suspect’s one-room apartment.
He, however, said that the suspect has been detained in the police custody while investigation in the matter is ongoing.
Mr Edafe said that the Commissioner of Police, Delta Command, Olufemi Abaniwonda, urged the public to continue to provide the police with useful, credible and timely information to stem insecurity in the state.
He assured the CP’s commitment to ensuring the state is safe and secured for the residents.
