Woman, 30, remanded for allegedly stealing yam tubers worth N100,000

An Ile-Ife Magistrates’ Court in Osun State on Wednesday remanded a 30-year-old woman, Zainab Musa in custody for allegedly stealing yam worth N100,000.
Musa is standing trial on a two-count charge of unlawful entry and stealing.
The prosecutor, Inspector Jimoh Irewole, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on January 22,2025, at about 1.00 a.m., at Iwaro farm in Ipetumodu, Ife North Local Government Area of Osun.
Mr Irewole said that the defendant forcibly entered into the farmland of one Suberu Ganiyu, and stole some tubers of yam valued at N100,000.
According to him, the offences contravene Section 4 of the Forcibly Entry Land(Prohibition) Law and Section 390(9) of the Criminal Code, Laws of Osun, 2021 and 2002 respectively.
The defendant who was not legally represented, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Magistrate O.B. Adeduwura, ordered the remand of the defendant at Ipetumodu Divisional Police Headquarters.
Adeduwura adjourned the case until February 3 for mention.
